Potty Training With Pampers Easy Ups {$50 AMEX giveaway}

Potty training is one of those times in raising your children that can be quite frustrating and stressful. Sometimes what works for one child isn’t going to work for the next and it can be a complete trial and error type of situation. It can be hard on the child and hard on the parent when things aren’t going exactly how you want them too. Lets face it, nothing in parenting is considered easy but Pampers Easy Ups are here to help things go as smooth as possible!

My oldest son is about to be 4 years old. I tried potty training him when he was just over two because he was giving me tons of signs that he was ready for that adventure. He wasn’t. It was days of accidents, frustration, and stress. I decided to wait a while for him to flat out tell me he was ready and always gave him the option to go on the potty. Finally, one day it just clicked. I rewarded him with stickers and it was pretty smooth sailing. Except for nighttime. Here we are at almost 4 years old with no signs of being ready to get up in the middle of the night for potty breaks. He was getting so upset when I’d put another brand of pull up on him at night because he “wasn’t a baby and didn’t want to wear a diaper.” I’m so thankful that we’ve found Pampers Easy Ups because they really do feel like underwear and there is so much less complaining!

Now, Aria, my youngest just turned two in June. She’s a little more ready than he was at her age. I’m not sure if it’s the fact that she’s a girl or because she watches her big brother go but we’re introducing the potty and she’s a lot more interested. She was so excited to wear her “Dora” undies!

Like I mentioned above, they really do feel like underwear! They have an extremely soft waistband that doesn’t dig into the skin. Both my kids have no problems pulling them up or down by themselves either which is great for their independence. They also hold up to accidents which is extremely important to me. No more washing sheets every morning or changing outfits when there is a slip up!

Potty Training Tips from Dr. Tanya Altmann

Dr. Altmann is a pediatrician and a mom to three of her own children. She has some great tips on the potty training process! I’ve tried quite a few of these with great success and plan to implement more into the routine with Aria as we continue on this journey.

  1. Get your child excited about wearing underwear!
  2. Have patience.
  3. Look for signs that your child is ready.
  4. Lead by example. [I know it can be awkward to have your child in the bathroom with you and sometimes we need some peace but they really do learn by example!]
  5. Be positive and make it fun! [stickers worked so well here!]

Why Should You Choose Pampers Easy Ups in the Potty Training Process?

  1. They really do feel like real underwear but still provide excellent protection against the dreaded leak! I really think that if the pull on protection a child is using feels like a diaper than they’re going to treat it like a diaper!
  2. They come in such adorable patterns that children actually want to wear! They feature Thomas the Train Engine™, Dora the Explorer™, and now Hello Kitty™.
  3. They are really easy for little hands to pull up and down! I was so pleasantly surprised when I saw how independent both of my kids were in them!

See Kai Run [kids shoes] + giveaway

Shoes are incredibly important to me. I’m a self proclaimed shoe-a-holic and it’s reaching the point where my kids have to always be in a nice pair of shoes as well. With myself, it’s mainly about style, but with my children, it’s about style and comfort. Kids need comfortable or else you’re going to have a whole new set of problems on your hands; no one wants a whiney toddler complaining that their feet hurt.

seekairun.jpg

This is why I’m teaming up with See Kai Run to introduce to you guys some adorable yet comfortable shoes that we’re just loving in this house! & stay tuned to later in this post for a chance to snag a pair of any style that you see on the site!

shoes

First off for the little lady. I saw these and 100% fell in love with them. They are called the Avianna and come in toddler sizes 4-9. I’ve been loving gold lately and the little bow embellishment is just too cute to pass up. Plus, gold goes with everything as does this style. Aria wears these sandals everywhere to places like the pool and even the zoo [lots of walking] and we can dress them up with a cute little summer dress.

SeeKaiRunI had a tougher time finding Everett a pair of shoes that work for him. I’m not kidding when I say that he has the widest feet I’ve ever seen on a toddler.  The first pair that I ordered from them wasn’t even going to buckle around the top part of his foot. After speaking with the customer service department, they recommended the Mackinac sandal for him. Sure enough, it fits and he loves them. They don’t slip off when he’s running and my favorite part, they are machine washable!

SeeKaiRun6

Seriously, I’m biased, but these kids are just too cute in their See Kai Run sandals. I took these right before we walked to the pool. We have a little wooded trail walk when we want to go swimming and I wanted to test these out walking up a hill and on uneven terrain. No slips and no complaints!

Unique Handbags from Jahning + Giveaway

Jahning4

If you’re anything like me, you are drawn towards things that are a little out of the box. I like both clothing and my accessories to be something that makes a personal statement and can’t be picked up all across the county at the mall. Of course, I have to settle sometimes but when I get an opportunity to showcase a company so creative and unique, like Jahning, I jump on that chance.

jahning1

So when I say unique, I really mean unique. Some of these bags can take months to create. They use a process called “Batik” which means that it’s a technique used to dye on the cloth. Batik uses a special instrument known as “canting”. This instrument is a small copper container that can be filled with wax. It has bamboo or wooden handle and a spout which is used to make lines, points, and dots. So in la mans terms, these bags are tedious to create, time consuming, but absolutely gorgeous.

This is how they have been creating bags (and other fabrics) in Indonesia for centuries and Jahning is keeping on with the amazing tradition. You can get a great look at all of the unique bags and keep up with the always changing looks on their Instagram page found here.

jahning2

I was sent the two bags shown in the second picture of this post. I decided not to be greedy and give one away to a lucky reader! I couldn’t decide on what one I wanted to keep but after days (seriously) of staring at them hanging in my closet, I decided to keep the darker print one shown above. I have a lot more outfits that it’ll go better with and that’s the only reason. I really adore them both equally.

So, who’s ready for giveaway time? Just submit the requests in the rafflecopter below. All entries will be verified so don’t try cheating; no body likes a cheater. Since I have both bags with me, I’ll be responsible for shipment of the prize. US residents only, please!

How I Knew I Was Pregnant… {+Giveaway}

clearblue1Finding out that you’re pregnant is one of the most emotional times in your life. It feels like one second it’s just you in your body and as soon as that stick tells you otherwise… You’re creating and protecting another tiny little human. It’s a moment filled with all different emotions for everyone. For me, especially the first time, it was shock, excitement, and nervousness. heart-pregnant-belly-hands

As many of you know, I have two children. I have only been pregnant twice. With my first, my son Everett, I was not expecting to get that results that I got. My husband was living in Texas and I was finishing up my last 5 months of school before moving down there to be with him. We weren’t thinking that we were going to start a family anytime soon. The world had different plans for us. I was sharing a bottle of wine (or five) with my roommate and found a pregnancy test in one of my drawers. As a joke, I decided to take it. Well, joke was on me. I was in complete shock. It was probably the greatest shock the universe has ever thrown at me.

September of 2011: As you can see life was quite different back then. Not better by any means, just different.

September of 2011: As you can see life was quite different back then. Not better by any means, just different.

With Aria, my second child, my husband and I were actually trying. I went off of birth control about 2 months prior and we were just playing the “lets see what happens game.” I had a girlfriend over the night before and we had a few beers. The next morning I woke up and felt AWFUL. It was beyond just hungover and I didn’t drink nearly enough to cause the way I was feeling.  I decided to take a test. Thus Aria made her announcement. I actually used the Clearblue weeks estimator and got the same 1-2 as pictured above. I was about 3-4 weeks pregnant at that point!

The month before we welcomed by second into this world.

Oh, and with BOTH pregnancies in the very early weeks I had the strangest eye twitch. My left eye would randomly twitch for hours on end. It was happening before I tested with both of them. You’d think I was have remembered that the second time it started happening again but mommy brain is a real thing. eye

This topic of how you knew you were pregnant is so interesting to me I decided to ask my followers on my Facebook fan page. It’s amazing how everyones body reacts so different to these changes. A few of the responses are…

  • The only thing I wanted to eat was horseradish sauce. Everything else made me sick.
    -Stephanie, Michigan
  •  I thought I had the stomach flu with my first son took a test cause i wasnt getting better… Very Surprised test was positive after docs said i would have a very hard time getting pregnant. I was already 3 months along!
    -Amanda, Michigan
  • With my first, I ate Big Macs from McDonald’s everyday for two weeks. I had NO IDEA I was pregnant. I just had never had a Big Mac before.  Two weeks into it I decided that I couldn’t keep eating them or else I’d be as big as a house. Well, I tried my hardest that day, but the craving was unbearable! I went and bought myself one and then stopped at Walmart for some sweatpants because my pants were all too tight.  I decided that my cravings were too much and I bought a Clearblue test. I was too anxious to wait so I went right to the Walmart bathroom. Of course it said I was pregnant!
    -Melanie, Delaware
  • I got a UTI. I went to the hospital and surprise!
    -Debbie, Massachusetts
  • I was extremely tired like wiped out ready to be in bed by 7.
    -Alison, Texas

Regardless of how your mommy instincts tell you that you’re pregnant, Clearblue pregnancy tests are a great way to confirm what so many of us already know.

Indications for use: The Clearblue Advanced Pregnancy Test with Weeks Estimator is an over-the-counter urine hCG test which is intended for the detection of pregnancy. The test detects hCG in some cases from 4 days before the expected period (which is 5 days before the day of the missed period).

This test is only intended for individual use at home. It is not intended for use in a healthcare setting.

This test contains a ‘Weeks Estimator.’ The ‘Weeks Estimator’ is meant solely as an estimate for the consumer and is not intended as a substitute for a doctor’s clinical diagnosis. The ’Weeks Estimator’ is not intended for multiple pregnancies. The estimate provided by the device may be inaccurate in these cases.

This test cannot be used to determine the duration of pregnancy or to monitor the progression of pregnancy. Your doctor determines how many weeks pregnant you are based on the first day of your last menstrual period and ultrasound results. This test provides a different estimate that cannot be substituted for a doctor’s determination of gestational age. Only your doctor can provide a reliable estimate of gestational age and only your doctor can monitor pregnancy progression. You should seek qualified prenatal care if you suspect you are pregnant.

Clearblue is giving away one of these incredible tests to one lucky reader! Just enter the Rafflecopter below for your chance to win.
